Fitment Notes

• Fits 2-inch receiver hitches only - the extender's shank inserts into the vehicle's 2-inch receiver, and the extender's receiver opening accepts any standard 2-inch ball mount or accessory
• Do NOT use a drop hitch behind this extender - only a straight ball mount should be used between the extender and the trailer; a drop hitch adds excessive leverage and is not safe or rated for use behind an extender
• Not recommended for use with a draw bar or flat towing applications
• A hitch pin is not included - use a 5/8-inch hitch pin (sold separately) to secure the extender in the receiver and the ball mount in the extender
• Never exceed the 10,000 lb GTW or 500 lb tongue weight rated capacity, and never exceed your vehicle's hitch or receiver ratings

Product Description

The GEN-Y Hitch GH-040 is a heavy-duty 14-inch hitch extender for standard 2-inch receiver hitches, rated to 10,000 lb gross trailer weight - a capacity that puts it in an entirely different class from most aftermarket extenders, which typically top out at 3,500-5,000 lb. Built from solid steel with a flat black powder coat finish and made 100% in the USA, the GH-040 is designed for serious towing applications where a standard hitch position creates clearance problems.

The most common use cases are vehicles with rear-mounted spare tires or bumper-mounted propane tanks that make contact with the trailer nose or jack during tight turns, and hitch-mounted bike racks or cargo carriers that need to be pushed back to clear the tailgate or rear obstacles. The 14 inches of extension (measured center-to-center from vehicle hitch pin hole to extender hitch pin hole) provides enough clearance to solve most of these situations. The extender accepts any standard 2-inch ball mount in its output receiver.

Important: A drop hitch should never be used between this extender and the trailer - only a straight ball mount is rated and safe for this application.
