The FOX 981-25-117-3 is a universal motorsports coilover shock built on FOX's Performance Elite Series 2.5 platform, offering 10 inches of travel with a remote reservoir and Dual Speed Compression (DSC) adjuster. Designed for custom off-road race builds - prerunners, rock crawlers, long-travel truck setups, and desert race builds - this shock delivers a meaningful step up from emulsion-style coilovers through its remote reservoir design. The external reservoir increases total oil volume, improves heat dissipation, reduces internal gas pressure ramp-up during compression, and separates oil from nitrogen gas for more consistent damping stroke-to-stroke.

The DSC adjuster is the key tuning advantage, providing independent control over low-speed and high-speed compression from external knobs. Low-speed compression affects how the shock responds to body roll, g-outs, and slow terrain, while high-speed compression manages sharp impacts and high-speed whoops.
