The Ford Racing M-6279-463V is the OEM replacement camshaft bolt kit for all 2005-2010 Ford Mustang models equipped with the 4.6L 3-valve engine. These are torque-to-yield (TTY) fasteners - meaning they stretch during installation to achieve the precise clamping load required for the cam phaser system. Because of this, they are strictly single-use parts and must be replaced any time the camshaft is removed, even if the bolts appear undamaged.

Installation follows a two-stage torque sequence: first tighten to 40 Nm (30 lb-ft), then rotate an additional 90 degrees. This angle-tightening method ensures correct bolt stretch and clamp force. Skipping this procedure or reusing old bolts risks improper cam timing retention, which can result in cam phaser failure or engine damage. This kit is for 3-valve engines only and does not apply to 2-valve or 4-valve 4.6L variants.
