Fitment Notes

• Part number 840821 is the dry sump / accessory drive variant of Fluidampr's 2JZ damper. It is NOT a direct replacement for a standard street 2JZ harmonic balancer - the integrated accessory drive pulley is designed for race and high-performance builds running a dry sump oil system or custom external accessory drive (power steering pump, alternator, etc.) off the crankshaft. For street applications not using a dry sump or external accessory drive, the standard Fluidampr 840801 is the appropriate choice.
• The dry sump / accessory drive pulley (hard coat anodized aluminum, 5-7/8" diameter) features three pre-drilled 3/8-16 threaded holes on a 3.200" bolt circle with a pilot bore for mandrel-mounted accessories. This provisions mounting of components such as the RAD Industries Power Steering Kit, Bosch power steering pump, dry sump drive pulleys, and other custom mandrel-mount accessories.
• The pulley is removable on this modular design - the dry sump pulley (sold separately as p/n 570819) is also available for retrofitting onto 2020-and-later Fluidampr p/n 840801 units already in service.
• Bore diameter is 1.3783". Verify crankshaft snout diameter on your specific 1JZ or 2JZ application before installation.

Product Description

The Fluidampr 840821 is a viscous performance harmonic damper for the Toyota and Lexus 1JZ and 2JZ I-6 engine family (1990-2005), fitted with an integrated hard coat anodized aluminum dry sump and accessory drive pulley. It was developed in collaboration with Dan Burkett of RAD Industries - a Formula Drift competitor - specifically to address the need for a crankshaft damper that could simultaneously provide viscous torsional vibration protection and serve as the drive point for a dry sump oil pump or other external accessory drive components in race-built 2JZ applications. The 840821 is a specialized variant of Fluidampr's standard 2JZ damper (840801) and should be selected specifically for builds requiring a crank-driven external accessory drive; street applications without this requirement are better served by the standard 840801.

The viscous damper design at the core of the 840821 uses a precision-fitted inertia ring suspended in silicone fluid inside a sealed steel housing to absorb and dissipate crankshaft torsional vibration across the entire RPM range - a critical capability for modified 2JZ engines where elevated compression, forced induction, and aftermarket camshafts alter the engine's natural torsional frequency relative to the OEM rubber damper's tuned point. The precision CNC machined steel construction is inherently balanced and requires no external weights or periodic adjustment.
