  • 2005-2008 Lincoln Navigator (5.4L Triton 3V V8; all trims including L)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits 3-valve (3V) Ford Modular V8 engines only - does NOT fit 2-valve (2V) engines (1998-2004 applications); use Edelbrock #22781 for 2-valve applications
  • Does NOT fit 4-valve (4V) DOHC engines such as the SVT Cobra, Mach 1, or Mustang GT500; use Edelbrock #22784 for those applications
  • Coils are marked "8L3E" on the top of the housing - confirm this marking matches your OEM coil before installation
  • Designed for use with 16mm spark plugs as fitted to 3-valve Modular engines
  • Also compatible with supercharged, turbocharged, and E85-converted 3-valve applications

Features

  • Higher resistance windings than OEM deliver increased energy and voltage output for a larger, hotter spark
  • Improved cold-start reliability and smoother idle quality compared to stock ignition coils
  • High-temperature silicone spark plug boots rated to 550°F for superior heat resistance in tight engine bays
  • Stainless steel spark plug spring contact with ferrite lug minimizes electromagnetic and radio frequency interference (EMI/RFI)
  • Corrosion-resistant housing sealed with high-temperature epoxy for shock, vibration, and thermal cycle resistance
  • Direct coil-on-plug bolt-on installation - no wiring modifications required
  • Ideal for performance builds including supercharged, turbocharged, and E85-fueled applications
  • Sold as a complete set of 8 coils - replaces all coils on a V8 engine in one purchase

Product Description

The Edelbrock 22783 Max-Fire Coil-On-Plug Ignition Coil Set is a direct-fit performance upgrade for all 2004-2008 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with the 3-valve 4.6L or 5.4L Triton V8 - including the Mustang GT, F-150, Expedition, Explorer, Explorer Sport Trac, Lincoln Mark LT, and Navigator. Compared to OEM coils, the Max-Fire units use higher-resistance primary and secondary windings to generate greater voltage output at higher RPM, resulting in a hotter, more consistent spark. The improvement is especially noticeable on modified engines - those running a supercharger, turbocharger, or E85 fuel - where stock coils can struggle to maintain ignition efficiency under increased cylinder pressure.

Each coil is sealed with high-temperature epoxy for long-term shock and vibration resistance, and the silicone boots are rated to 550°F to handle even the most heat-intensive under-hood environments. Installation is a direct bolt-on swap with no wiring changes required. For replacement of a single failed coil, the identical unit is available individually as Edelbrock #22782. Buyers should confirm their engine is a 3-valve (3V) variant before ordering - 2-valve and 4-valve Ford Modular engines use different coil designs.
