Product Description

The Edelbrock 1409 is a 600 CFM, 4-barrel square-bore carburetor engineered primarily for marine and small-block V8 applications - though it can also be used in street cars or other suitable gasoline engines with compatible manifolds and non-computer-controlled fuel/ignition setups. Its all-aluminum two-piece body with corrosion-resistant finish makes it well-suited for marine environments, and the electric choke simplifies cold-start and warm-up. The simple rear-float design with tub-style fuel bowls reduces leak paths and eases maintenance, while the single fuel inlet and standard square-bore flange maximize manifold compatibility.

By using metering-rod circuitry instead of traditional power-valve design, the 1409 tolerates engine backfires and avoids common power-valve failures, offering stable and reliable tuning over time. Factory-installed jets and rods provide a balanced setup out of the box, but the 1409 remains easily adjustable for custom tuning. Because it is a universal-fit carburetor, proper fitment depends on matching your engine displacement, intake manifold flange type (square-bore 4-bbl), fuel type (gasoline only), and ensuring your engine/fuel system does not rely on EGR, EFI, or computer-controlled fuel delivery.
