Product Description

The EBC GD1488 is a pair of 3GD Series Sport Slotted and Dimpled front brake rotors for the 2008-2015 MINI Cooper S across the R55 Clubman, R56 Hatchback, R57 Convertible, and R59 Roadster chassis, as well as the 2015 F56 Cooper S Hatchback. At 294mm diameter, these are the performance upgrade over the standard Cooper's smaller rotors, sized specifically for Cooper S applications with the 4-bolt mounting pattern common to the R-series and first-generation F56.

EBC's 3GD design combines wide aperture turbo groove slots with dimple drilling. The slots pull hot gases and debris away from the pad-rotor interface, reducing thermal buildup and brake fade under repeated hard braking. The dimples replace traditional full through-drilling -- drill holes are a common source of stress cracking under fatigue loading, while dimples provide the same gas evacuation benefit without creating a stress riser in the iron. The rotors are finished in a Thermic black coating to resist corrosion on the hat and non-swept surfaces. Cast from OE spec high carbon grey iron, entirely in EBC's UK foundry. Pad shape is FMSI D1204 for all R-series chassis and D1801 for the F56. Sold as a 2-rotor front axle set.
