Fitment Notes

• This is a single (one) LED light bar. A wiring harness is sold separately. Due to the higher power draw of the SS40, the Diode Dynamics Ultra Heavy Duty Single Output 4-Pin Wiring Harness is required - the standard Heavy Duty harness is not sufficient for this bar.
• The SS40 is compatible with Diode Dynamics CrossLink mounting hardware for side-by-side or curved multi-bar configurations.
• All Stage Series LED light bars use 6000K Cool White emitters. The yellow output on this bar is achieved via a yellow-tinted outer lens - not a different LED chip. The PCB toggle switch on each segment is pre-set to yellow to ensure the ABL amber backlight operates correctly with the yellow lens from the factory.
• The yellow lens can be swapped back to a White Flood lens (sold separately); the PCB toggle switch must be changed to white when doing so.
• Snap-on lens covers (sold separately) are available in clear, smoked, yellow, black, and amber.
• ABL (Standard) models feature an amber-only backlight with no startup sequence and no section control. For the SmartSelect multicolor backlight with dynamic startup animation and inner/outer section beam control, see DD8386 (MBL/SmartSelect version).
• The Flood beam pattern is ideal for backup lighting, campsite illumination, worksites, and slow-speed terrain scanning - not for high-speed forward driving use.

The Diode Dynamics DD8385 SS40 Sport Yellow Flood ABL is a purpose-built wide-area illumination solution - the selective yellow, amber-backlight Flood configuration of the new-generation 40-inch Stage Series light bar. Where the Combo/Driving beam (DD8383) is optimized for mixed-terrain forward driving, the Flood is engineered for a fundamentally different use case: maximum area coverage at close to mid-range distances without the narrow focused beam of a driving or spot pattern. The 100°x80° Flood beam uses advanced pillow optics on the outer lens surface to produce genuinely uniform, smooth illumination with no hotspots or harsh transitions - a true optically-designed spread, not simply a diffused spotlight. At 40 inches and 165W Sport level, the yellow Flood delivers substantial illuminated area for reverse lighting, campsite and bivouac setups, worksite use, and close-range trail scanning in adverse weather.

The yellow output is produced by a precision yellow-tinted outer lens over the same 6000K Cool White LED emitters used in the white SS40 variants. In Flood applications specifically, the yellow wavelength advantage is meaningful - yellow light scatters less in fog, rain, and dust particles than white light, making the yellow Flood more effective than a white Flood in conditions where backscatter degrades usable illumination. The PCB toggle switch on each of the seven segments is factory pre-set to yellow, ensuring the integrated amber ABL backlight operates correctly with the yellow lens from installation.
