Vehicle Fitment

Universal - compatible with any vehicle or mounting application. These pods require a separate vehicle-specific or universal mounting bracket and wiring harness, sold separately, for installation. No vehicle-specific fitment restrictions apply to the pods themselves.

Fitment Notes

• Universal LED pods - sold without mounting brackets, bezels, or wiring harnesses. Compatible mounting solutions (vehicle-specific fog light kits, ditch light brackets, flush mount kits, and universal harnesses) are available separately from Diode Dynamics.
• When installed as a pair and aimed per local regulations, the SAE Driving beam pattern meets SAE J581 standard as a Driving/Auxiliary High Beam Light for legal on-road use. Check local laws and regulations for aiming, installation, and applicability.
• Each pod includes a 6-inch pigtail with bare leads for wiring. Pods can be self-wired, or connected using Diode Dynamics' Light Duty Dual Output Harness (powers up to 2 pods) or Heavy Duty Dual Output Harness (with splitter for more than 2 pods).
• The amber backlight requires a separate power connection - tap to the desired vehicle function (parking lights, DRL, or other constant 12V source) using the included pigtail leads.
• Operating voltage with backlight enabled: 9-16V. Non-backlit pods operate at 9-30V; operating voltage is reduced to 9-16V when the backlight circuit is active.
• Snap-on protective covers for SS3 pods are available separately from Diode Dynamics in multiple colors.

These are universal-mount pods sold without vehicle-specific brackets, bezels, or wiring harnesses - they are the core pod units that pair with Diode Dynamics' extensive ecosystem of vehicle-specific fog light kits, ditch light brackets, grille mount kits, flush mount kits, and universal harnesses to build a complete lighting solution for virtually any vehicle or mounting location.

At the Sport power level, each pod delivers 1,520 measured lumens and 54,700 candela of peak intensity from a 14.5W input - the highest output available in a 3-inch pod package at this power tier. The SAE Driving beam pattern is shaped using optical simulation modeling into an 18°x8° spread that illuminates the road corridor ahead at high speeds without projecting light skyward or sideways where it causes glare. When aimed per local regulations, the Driving pattern meets SAE J581 standard as a legal on-road Driving/Auxiliary High Beam light. The custom TIR optic serves simultaneously as the optical element and outer lens, eliminating the 10%+ efficiency losses that occur in pods with a separate cover lens and delivering the collected LED output directly on target.

The integrated amber backlight (ABL) fully illuminates the entire TIR optic face with amber LEDs, creating a distinctive perimeter glow that activates independently of the main beam - wired via the included bare-lead pigtail to any constant 12V vehicle function such as parking lights, DRLs, or a separate switch. The backlight shuts off automatically when the main beam is activated.
