Compatible with any vehicle using a standard CF18 (LM449) turn signal flasher relay - plug-and-play direct replacement for the factory CF18 module.
For Toyota trucks and SUVs (including Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, Sequoia, and Highlander): compatible only with trim levels that do NOT feature factory Daytime Running Lights (DTRL). Not compatible with DTRL-equipped Toyota trucks.
Not compatible with most newer vehicles that do not use a CF18-style flasher. Contact Diode Dynamics to confirm compatibility if unsure.
Compatible with both LED and standard incandescent turn signal bulbs - eliminates hyperblinking caused by LED bulb installation with no additional resistors or wiring required.
Maximum load rating: 150W continuous (approximately equivalent to six total incandescent turn signal bulbs - three per side).
Fully functional on Subaru OneTouch-equipped vehicles - overrides the factory fixed 3-blink with the user-programmable blink count.

The Diode Dynamics DD4015 SmartTap CF18 LED Flasher Module is a direct plug-and-play replacement for the factory CF18 (LM449) turn signal flasher relay used across a wide range of Lexus, Scion, Subaru, Toyota, and Pontiac vehicles. At its most basic level, the SmartTap solves the hyperblinking problem that occurs whenever LED turn signal bulbs are installed: because LEDs draw less power than incandescent bulbs, the factory flasher interprets the lower load as a burned-out bulb and rapidly increases the blink rate. The SmartTap eliminates this behavior entirely, maintaining the correct standard blink rate with any LED or incandescent bulb - no inline resistors, no load equalizers, and no wiring modifications required.

Beyond hyperflash prevention, the SmartTap adds a full suite of programmable intelligent signaling functions through an embedded microcontroller running proprietary Diode Dynamics software. The Tap-to-Signal function enables single-tap lane change signaling - one touch of the stalk triggers a user-defined number of automatic blinks, keeping the driver's hands free. The built-in hazard system includes strobe, slo-mo, and wig-wag patterns that can be applied individually or combined for up to eight unique hazard configurations. The Arrival and Departure mode activates a steady-glow turn signal when the lock or unlock button is pressed, providing up to 90 seconds of illumination around the vehicle - adjustable in duration or fully disableable. On Subaru vehicles equipped with OneTouch lane signaling, the SmartTap fully overrides the factory fixed 3-blink sequence with the programmable blink count, with no modification or workaround required.

The SmartTap is rated for a maximum continuous load of 150W - equivalent to approximately six full-power incandescent turn signal bulbs - making it compatible with mixed LED and incandescent setups without any risk of overloading the module.
