Product Description

The DBA DB15007SP is a rear axle Street Performance brake pad set engineered for the 2018-2021 Subaru WRX STI (VA) and its factory Brembo 2-piston rear caliper - covering all STI trim levels across all four model years, including the Type RA, S209, and Kanrai special editions, as well as 2020-2021 WRX models fitted with the optional Brembo Performance Brake Package. The 2018 STI received an upgraded Brembo brake system across both axles compared to the previous generation, with the rear featuring a 2-piston Brembo caliper over a 326mm vented disc. While the front Brembo 6-piston system receives the most attention, the rear Brembo compound is equally important to overall braking balance, and the OE rear pads share the same widely reported weakness as other OE Brembo applications: excessive brake dust and inconsistent friction output under hard repeated braking.

The SP compound addresses both issues, delivering a more consistent rear friction output across the full temperature range while running substantially cleaner than the factory compound. With an operating ceiling of 500°C (900°F), the DB15007SP covers the full demand range of spirited daily driving, autocross, and regular track day use without requiring the harshness of a full race compound. The factory-scorched friction surface shortens the bedding-in window significantly, application-specific chamfers and a centre slot manage NVH and heat dissipation, and application-specific NVH shims are factory-fitted for rattle-free, quiet rear brake operation from first installation.

The DB15007SP replaces the discontinued DB15007 and is designed for the D2118 rear pad geometry used on the 2018-2021 STI's Brembo 2-piston rear caliper. It does not fit the 2015-2017 WRX STI, which uses a different rear Brembo caliper configuration and pad shape (FMSI D961). For the best complete rear braking upgrade, DBA recommends pairing this pad with T2 slotted Street Series or T3 slotted 4000 Series rear rotors. The companion front pad for the 2018-2021 STI Brembo 6-piston front caliper is DB15006SP. One set of four pads covers a complete rear axle replacement. Wear sensors are not included.
