Product Description

The Cusco LSD 182 L15 is a Type-RS 1.5-way rear limited slip differential for Subaru AWD vehicles equipped with the R180 rear differential housing, including the 2004-2014 WRX STI (GDB/GRB/GVB), 2004-2007 Forester STI (SG9), and select GC8 Impreza STI models with DCCD center differential. The Type-RS design uses internal coil springs to absorb initial torque application on the clutch plates, delivering smoother engagement and reduced chatter compared to conventional cone-plate or Cusco's more aggressive Type-MZ units. Cusco's in-house research shows 50-70% lower initial torque versus traditional plate-type LSDs, resulting in lower drivetrain friction and better throttle response.

The 1.5-way configuration activates under both acceleration and deceleration, with deceleration lock effect reduced compared to a full 2-way -- ideal for drivers who want rear traction on power-on while maintaining more natural rotation under braking and lift-off. The included cam set can be reconfigured to full 2-way for more aggressive rear-end behavior suited to drifting or circuit driving. The oil-through design ensures pressurized gear oil flows through all friction surfaces for consistent operation and extended plate life.
