Product Description

The CSF 8400 Race X is the most advanced charge-air cooler manifold available for the Gen 2 BMW/Toyota B58 3.0L turbocharged inline-6 engine. Developed in collaboration with VF Engineering and Custom Plenum Creations, the Race X builds on the success of CSF's wildly popular #8200 Super Manifold with a 25% larger intercooler core featuring 15 rows of water cooling (compared to 12 rows on the #8200 and just 6 rows on the OEM unit). Designed using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software and race-tested on some of the fastest B58-powered drag cars in the world - including a record-holding 1,000+ horsepower M340i - the Race X delivers unmatched air flow capacity and cooling efficiency for extreme high-power applications.

The manifold's water flow system can be configured for either dual-pass or single-pass operation using the front-facing -16 ORB port, which has been specifically optimized for ice box setups commonly used in drag racing and roll racing to achieve the lowest possible intake air temperatures. The integrated CFD-designed air divider in the inlet tank ensures even airflow distribution across the entire core surface area, eliminating hot spots and maximizing heat rejection. A pre-installed fuel rail with top-feed injector ports enables port injection capability for high-power builds requiring auxiliary fueling beyond the factory direct injection system, while the integrated sensor pad provides five additional NPT ports for monitoring boost pressure, intake air temperature, and other critical parameters.

The included KIYLEX Thermal Rejection Competition Spacer - a patented high-performance polymer rated to 1,100°F with strength comparable to aluminum - insulates the manifold from conductive heat transfer from the cylinder head, dramatically reducing heat soak during staging at drag events and improving charge-air cooler efficiency throughout extended track sessions. Every CSF Race X manifold is precision CNC machined from billet aluminum, 100% TIG welded, and individually pressure tested at 60-70 PSI before leaving the factory. The complete hardware and installation kit includes all brackets, bolts, washers, and CNC machined fittings with vacuum-packaged components, a bill-of-materials list, exploded diagrams, and step-by-step installation procedures designed for professional technicians familiar with the B58 platform.
