Product Description

The COMP Cams 5449 is a cam phaser limiter kit made for 2005+ Ford Modular 3-Valve V8 engines (4.6L and 5.4L). This kit restricts the variable valve timing (VVT) range to 20° of crank movement, reducing the risk of piston-to-valve contact when running aggressive performance camshafts.

Included in the kit are two limiter plates, a spring compressor to safely compress the VVT spring during installation, and a special disassembly tool for the phaser. By limiting phasing, the 5449 enables the use of tighter lobe separation or more aggressive cam profiles that wouldn't be safe with full VVT range, all while retaining some benefits of variable timing. This makes it ideal for performance builds on Modular 3-Valve engines where more radical cams are used.
