The Cometic C4198-040 is a high-performance MLS (Multi-Layer Steel) cylinder head gasket designed for the Honda H22A1 and H22A2 2.2L DOHC VTEC inline 4-cylinder engine found in the 1993-1996 Honda Prelude VTEC (BB1 chassis). With an 88mm stock bore diameter and .040" (1.0mm) compressed thickness across 3 layers of embossed stainless steel, this gasket provides reliable sealing for both stock rebuilds and performance builds. The Viton-coated outer layers with PTFE topcoat deliver exceptional resistance to heat, chemicals, and fret in the H22A's aluminum head-to-aluminum block configuration.

The H22A engine is one of Honda's most celebrated performance powerplants, producing up to 195 horsepower in stock form and serving as a popular platform for turbo, supercharger, and nitrous builds. The C4198-040 delivers the sealing integrity needed for these high-output applications without requiring supplemental sealants or re-torquing after installation.
