Product Description

The Clutch Masters 17400-HDCL-D is an FX400 Stage 4 single disc clutch kit engineered specifically for the 2015-2021 Volkswagen GTI MK7 / MK7.5 with the 2.0L TSI EA888 turbocharged engine and 02Q 6-speed manual transmission. The FX400 is Clutch Masters' top-tier hybrid street and race system -- combining the Power Plus I Hi-Leverage Heavy-Duty pressure plate with a custom 8-puck lined sprung ceramic disc that delivers a 170% increase in torque holding capacity over the factory clutch, while still maintaining enough streetability for a highly modified GTI to be driven on the road.

The HDCL disc design uses an 8-puck (less aggressive than the 6-puck HDC6 variant) ceramic full-face lined construction with a marcel cushion between the disc linings, producing quick and rapid engagement with minimal chatter compared to traditional puck-style race discs. The sprung hub center provides moderate dampening of high-torque drivetrain shock, making this clutch much more street-friendly than solid or rigid-hub designs. The dampened disc construction requires an aftermarket single mass flywheel -- it does NOT work with the factory dual mass flywheel and must be paired with a Clutch Masters or compatible single mass flywheel (sold separately). The factory hydraulic slave cylinder is retained for proper engagement and disengagement. Ceramic-based clutch discs are designed to increase holding capacity and improve durability under high torque rather than extend service life, and are not recommended for stock or near-stock applications.
