Vehicle Fitment

  • 1996-2004 Ford Mustang SN95 / New Edge (All Trims: V6, GT, SVT Cobra, Bullitt, Mach 1 - All engines - RWD)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits 1996-2004 Ford Mustang SN95 and New Edge only - does not fit 1979-1995 Fox Body Mustang; see BMR KM733H for Fox Body fitment
  • Designed for use with conventional coil springs and struts - welded spring perches are included on this K-member, so a coilover conversion is NOT required; compatible with factory-style spring and strut suspension
  • Compatible with any BMR or factory A-arm designed for conventional springs
  • Compatible with both factory and aftermarket engine mounts; maintains stock engine height
  • Compatible with both factory power steering rack and aftermarket steering racks; uses SN95 steering geometry
  • Designed and header-clearance tested around Mac Long-tube headers and stock exhaust manifolds - other brands of aftermarket headers have not been test-fit and may require modifications for clearance; verify fitment with your specific header before ordering
  • 1996-2004 SVT Cobra models equipped with an oil cooler may require oil filter relocation for clearance
  • Installation requires shop-level specialty tools; professional installation by a Mustang-experienced shop is strongly recommended - this is not a beginner install
  • Estimated installation time: 4 hours
  • A front wheel alignment is required after installation
  • Ships via UPS ground - no truck freight required

Features

  • Removes 15.5 pounds from the front end of the 1996-2004 Mustang compared to the factory cast iron K-member - reducing unsprung front-end weight to improve weight transfer, traction off the line, and overall handling balance
  • Welded spring perches allow direct use of conventional coil springs and struts - eliminating the requirement for an expensive coilover conversion that other tubular K-members demand; builders can retain their existing springs, shocks, and A-arms while still gaining the weight and rigidity benefits of a tubular K-member
  • Premium version features increased internal bracing over BMR's standard K-member design - providing a heavier-duty, road race-grade structure that is stiffer and more resistant to flex under the sustained high lateral and longitudinal loads of road course driving
  • Manufactured from 1.50-inch DOM steel main cross bar and 3/16-inch steel plate - combining the weight efficiency of tubular construction with the rigidity of thick-section plate steel at critical mounting and junction areas
  • Two front control arm mounting positions provide additional A-arm adjustment range beyond the factory K-member - enabling more aggressive alignment settings for handling and road course applications
  • Uses SN95 steering geometry - maintaining the correct steering rack position and Ackermann angle of the SN95/New Edge platform for predictable, factory-correct steering feel and response
  • Maintains stock engine height - no engine mounts, accessory brackets, or driveline components need to be relocated or modified for the engine package
  • 100% bolt-in installation using factory mounting points - no chassis welding, cutting, or drilling required
  • Black hammertone powdercoat finish provides durable, long-lasting corrosion resistance with an aggressive underhood appearance
  • Designed for drag racing, street-strip, street performance, and road course/handling applications
  • Proudly designed and manufactured in the USA by BMR Suspension

Product Description

The BMR Suspension KM743H is a premium tubular K-member with welded spring perches engineered specifically for the 1996-2004 Ford Mustang SN95 and New Edge platform. The factory cast iron K-member on these cars is a heavy, low-rigidity subframe that contributes unnecessary unsprung weight to the front end - weight that works against weight transfer, reduces traction off the line, and adds inertia that the front suspension has to overcome during direction changes. The KM743H replaces this casting with a purpose-built tubular steel structure, removing 15.5 pounds from the front end and delivering a dramatically stiffer, more precise front subframe in its place.

The defining feature of the KM743H - and the "Premium" designation - is its combination of two upgrades over BMR's standard K-member: thick welded spring perches and increased internal bracing. The welded spring perches are a critical distinction because they allow the builder to run conventional coil springs and factory-style struts directly on the K-member without any coilover conversion. Most tubular K-members require a coilover system to function, adding significant cost and complexity to what should be a straightforward weight-reduction upgrade. The KM743H eliminates this requirement entirely, making it the correct choice for builders who want the weight reduction and rigidity of a tubular K-member without changing their spring and shock setup. The increased bracing over BMR's standard K-member delivers a heavier-duty structure suited to sustained road course loads as well as drag strip use. The K-member uses SN95 steering geometry, maintains stock engine height, and is compatible with factory and aftermarket engine mounts, steering racks, and A-arms designed for conventional springs. It is a 100% bolt-in installation but requires shop-level specialty tools and Mustang-specific experience - professional installation is strongly recommended. Made in the USA by BMR Suspension and backed by a 2-year limited warranty.
