Vehicle Fitment

  • 1979-1993 Ford Mustang - Fox Body, All Trims (L4, V6, 5.0L V8, 5.8L V8, pushrod engines)
  • 1994-2004 Ford Mustang - SN95 / New Edge, pushrod 5.0L or 5.8L V8 equipped (engine swap applications)

Fitment Notes

  • Designed for pushrod 5.0L (302) and 5.8L (351) V8 engines - not confirmed for 1996-2004 Mustangs equipped with the factory 4.6L or 5.4L modular engine; contact BMR Suspension to verify modular engine compatibility before ordering
  • Will NOT work with coilover suspension setups - the KM733H uses welded spring perches for use with conventional coil springs and OEM-style struts only
  • Compatible with factory OEM A-arms and BMR tubular A-arms (AA034 and AA037)
  • Compatible with both factory power steering racks and manual steering racks - no steering rack modification required
  • Compatible with factory and aftermarket engine mounts - note: some factory and aftermarket mounts have alignment pins that may require removal for correct K-member-to-mount mating
  • Two front lower control arm mounting holes provided: bottom hole for stock ride height or lowered up to 2"; top hole for vehicles lowered more than 2"
  • 100% bolt-in installation - no cutting, drilling, or chassis modification required
  • Engine remains at factory stock height after installation
  • Estimated installation time: 3-4 hours
  • Also available in Red powdercoat - see BMR KM733R
  • Made in the USA

Features

  • Removes 15.5 lbs from the front end of the vehicle - reduces total front-end weight to 33 lbs (vs. approximately 48.5 lbs for the factory K-member)
  • Reduced front-end weight increases forward weight transfer during acceleration, improving traction and launch performance
  • Premium version features increased bracing over BMR's standard K-member - engineered for heavy-duty drag, street-strip, and road race applications
  • Welded spring perches allow use of conventional OEM-style coil springs and struts - no coilover conversion required
  • Uses SN95 steering geometry for improved front-end steering feel and response
  • Provides increased underhood clearance for large-tube headers, turbo kits, and other performance modifications that are obstructed by the factory K-member
  • Manufactured from 1.5" DOM steel tubing and 3/16" steel plate for maximum strength and rigidity without excessive weight
  • Fixture-welded in-house to maintain dimensional accuracy and consistent quality across every unit
  • Black Hammertone powder-coated finish - durable, corrosion-resistant, and aggressive in appearance

Product Description

The BMR KM733H is the Premium version of BMR Suspension's tubular front K-member for the 1979-2004 Ford Mustang, engineered for Fox Body and SN95 builds running pushrod 5.0L or 5.8L V8 engines. The factory Mustang K-member is a heavy, stamped-steel component that adds unnecessary weight to the front of the car and limits underhood clearance for performance modifications. The KM733H replaces it entirely with a tubular DOM steel unit that weighs just 33 lbs - a 15.5 lb reduction that directly improves forward weight transfer under hard acceleration, helping the front end rise and the rear dig in for better 60-foot times and overall traction.

The "Premium" designation sets the KM733H apart from BMR's standard K-member through additional bracing that gives it a heavier-duty, road race-oriented construction. This extra structure makes the KM733H appropriate not just for drag strip use but for road course and street-strip applications where lateral chassis loads are a greater concern. The K-member uses welded spring perches that allow the builder to retain conventional OEM-style coil springs and struts - it is not designed for coilover setups. Two A-arm mounting positions are built into the design to accommodate different ride height scenarios: the lower hole is used for stock or up to 2" of drop, while the upper hole is intended for cars lowered more than 2".

Installation is 100% bolt-in with no chassis cutting or modification required, and the K-member is compatible with both factory A-arms and BMR's AA034/AA037 tubular A-arms. Both factory power steering and manual steering racks bolt directly to the new K-member. Builders should note that some factory and aftermarket engine mounts use alignment pins that may need to be removed for the mount to seat correctly against the new K-member - verify this before final assembly. The KM733H is finished in BMR's durable Black Hammertone powder coat, and is also available in Red (KM733R) for builds where color coordination matters.
