Fitment Notes

  • Fits all 1964-1972 GM A-Body vehicles sharing the standard rear lower control arm mounting geometry - covers all Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, and GMC A-Body models listed above
  • Bolt-on installation using existing factory mounting points - no welding required for most applications; welding is recommended in addition to bolt-on for extreme high-power or race-only builds
  • Designed for use with factory 10-bolt and 12-bolt rear end housings; fitment with non-factory or custom-fabricated rear ends should be verified before ordering
  • Lowering the control arm mount position may reduce ground clearance for sway bars mounted on the control arms; verify clearance if a factory-style control arm-mounted sway bar is in use
  • Provides three mounting locations per side - allowing the builder to select the optimal instant center position for their specific application (street, drag, handling)
  • Position: Rear lower control arm frame mount (left and right)
  • Estimated installation time: 2-3 hours; a drill with a sharp 1/2-inch bit is required to open one new mounting hole per side
  • A rear wheel alignment is recommended after installation

Features

  • Corrects the rear suspension geometry of 1964-1972 GM A-Body vehicles to improve anti-squat characteristics - relocating the rear lower control arm mount to a position that better manages weight transfer under acceleration for improved traction
  • Adjusts the suspension instant center by changing the lower control arm's effective angle relative to the chassis - a key variable in both drag strip launch performance and corner-exit traction
  • Three mounting locations per side allow the builder to optimize the instant center for their specific application: a lower position increases anti-squat for drag racing, while other positions can be tuned for road course or street handling characteristics
  • Three-point bolt-on mounting design prevents counter-rotation of the bracket under load - eliminating the bracket movement that single or dual-bolt designs can experience under the high torque inputs of performance driving
  • Manufactured from 3/16-inch laser-cut, CNC-formed hardened plate steel - providing the rigidity and strength required to withstand sustained high-power rear suspension loads without deformation or cracking
  • 100% bolt-on installation using existing factory frame mounting points - no chassis welding required for street and mild performance applications, making this a genuinely accessible upgrade without fabrication skills
  • Black hammertone powdercoat provides a durable, attractive finish that resists chipping, corrosion, and the moisture and road debris exposure typical of under-car components
  • Designed for street performance, drag racing, and handling/road course applications
  • Proudly designed and manufactured in the USA by BMR Suspension

Product Description

The BMR Suspension CAB400H is a rear lower control arm relocation bracket set engineered specifically for 1964-1972 GM A-Body vehicles - covering the full range of Chevrolet, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick, and GMC models built on the A-Body platform during those years. The factory rear lower control arm mount geometry on these vehicles was designed for balanced everyday driving rather than optimized performance, and as a result the rear suspension's anti-squat and instant center characteristics are not ideal for hard acceleration launches or high-traction corner exits. Under load, this produces greater-than-necessary chassis squat under acceleration, reducing forward energy transfer and producing weaker drag strip hole-shots - a well-known limitation of the factory A-Body rear suspension that has driven decades of aftermarket development. The CAB400H addresses this directly by relocating the lower control arm's chassis attachment point to a new position that improves the suspension's anti-squat behavior, changes the instant center, and optimizes the geometry for power transfer to the rear tires.

The brackets are manufactured from 3/16-inch laser-cut, CNC-formed hardened plate steel and offer three mounting locations per side, allowing the builder to select the instant center position that best suits their specific application - whether that's maximizing drag strip launch, improving corner-exit traction on a road course, or finding a balance for an aggressive street car. The three-point bolt-on mounting design prevents bracket counter-rotation under the high torque inputs of performance driving without requiring chassis welding, making this a genuinely accessible upgrade for builders who do not have access to a welder. For extreme high-power builds, BMR recommends supplementing the bolt-on installation with welding for additional security. The CAB400H is finished in black hammertone powdercoat and is made in the USA by BMR Suspension. A 1/2-inch drill bit is required to open one new mounting hole per side during installation.
