The Bilstein B8 Performance Plus 34-184530 is a front strut cartridge engineered for the Volkswagen MK1/A1 platform - covering the Rabbit, Jetta, Rabbit Convertible, Scirocco, and Cabriolet across their full production runs from 1975 to 1993. As a B8 Performance Plus damper, it is designed exclusively for pairing with aftermarket lowering springs and delivers significantly firmer, sport-oriented damping compared to both OE and B6-level dampers. The result is sharper body control, reduced dive under braking, and a more communicative, planted feel through corners.

The 34-184530 is a Gruppe N-spec (250/73) cartridge insert that drops directly into the existing MK1 strut housing with no fabrication or special tools required. Two units are needed per vehicle. It is recommended that the bump stop and protective boot be replaced or reinstalled at the time of installation to protect the cartridge.
