Product Description

The Bilstein 24-021203 is a B6 4600 Series rear shock absorber engineered for the 1996-2000 Toyota RAV4 in all body styles (2-door and 4-door) and drivetrain configurations (2WD and 4WD). As Bilstein's performance upgrade line for stock-height trucks and SUVs, the B6 4600 uses a 36mm monotube high gas pressure design that delivers a direct, responsive damping feel noticeably superior to the OEM twin-tube units. The single-tube design allows a larger piston diameter than twin-tube alternatives, enabling better heat dissipation and consistent fade-free performance across a wide range of driving conditions -- from daily street use to spirited off-road driving. Bilstein's patented digressive valving is velocity-sensitive, responding to road input with appropriate damping force rather than a fixed linear rate. At low suspension speeds, the valving is softer for everyday road compliance; at higher suspension speeds during impacts or cornering, it firms up rapidly to control body motion and maintain tire contact with the road surface. Each shock is individually tuned and tested for the specific weight and geometry of the RAV4 application. The corrosion-resistant yellow powder coat finish and included blue dust boot protect the piston rod from contamination for long service life. Important fitment note: 1998-2000 Toyota RAV4 models must verify that the rear strut units are not the sealed type before ordering -- this shock is compatible with non-sealed rear strut configurations only.
