The Bilstein 24-317474 is a B8 5100 Series ride height adjustable rear shock absorber designed for 2021-2025 Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Yukon XL models equipped with standard coil spring rear suspension. This monotube shock features multiple snap-ring grooves machined into the body that allow the spring seat to be repositioned, providing 0 to 1.8 inches of rear lift using the factory coil springs with no spacers or lift kit required. At the core is Bilstein's 46mm digressive piston with self-adjusting deflective disc valving that provides independent rebound and compression control, instantly reacting to changing road conditions for improved handling and ride quality both on and off road. The high-pressure nitrogen gas charge prevents oil aeration under heavy use, ensuring consistent fade-free damping even during sustained load or rough terrain. Construction includes a 2-inch seamless extruded steel tube body and a 14mm centerless-ground, case-hardened, chrome-plated piston rod finished with a zinc coating for corrosion resistance. This shock is a direct bolt-on replacement that reuses the factory mounting hardware for straightforward installation.
