Vehicle Fitment

  • 2007.5-2009 Dodge Ram 2500 (All Trims, 6.7L Cummins I-6 Turbodiesel) - 2WD / 4WD
  • 2007.5-2009 Dodge Ram 3500 (All Trims, 6.7L Cummins I-6 Turbodiesel) - 2WD / 4WD, SRW and DRW

Fitment Notes

  • Fits 2007.5-2009 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks equipped with the 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel engine only - confirm your model year. The 6.7L Cummins was introduced mid-model-year 2007 (2007.5+); 2007 early-production trucks equipped with the 5.9L Cummins are not compatible.
  • This kit includes BOTH the hot side tube (turbo to intercooler) and the cold side tube (intercooler to engine intake) - a complete boost tube replacement covering the full intercooler charge circuit.
  • Designed to work with the stock intake elbow OR the Banks Monster-Ram intake manifold (3.5" or 4" versions) - no modification required for either configuration.
  • Compatible with the stock factory intercooler or an aftermarket intercooler with stock inlet and outlet size and location. Not compatible with oversized intercoolers that have relocated or resized ports without additional adapter work.
  • The 3.5 in. Banks tubes are significantly larger than the stock 2.73 in. tubes - ensure all downstream connections (boots, couplers, intercooler ports) are sized for 3.5 in. before ordering if running a non-stock intercooler.
  • Sold as a complete kit - includes both boost tubes, silicone couplers, and spring-loaded constant tension clamps.

Features

  • 40% greater flow area than stock tubes - the Banks 25990 tubes measure 3.5 in. in diameter versus the factory 2.73 in. stock tubes, delivering 40% more cross-sectional flow area through the intercooler charge circuit. This increased flow capacity reduces the restriction that forces the turbocharger to work harder to maintain boost pressure, directly enabling faster turbo spool-up and improved overall boost delivery to the engine.
  • Mandrel-bent aluminized steel construction - both the hot side and cold side tubes are produced from high-quality aluminized steel and bent using a mandrel bending process, which maintains a constant tube diameter through every bend without the flow-restricting tube collapse, wall thinning, and interior ridges that result from crush or compression bending methods used in lower-cost alternatives.
  • Constant tube diameter throughout - mandrel bending preserves the full 3.5 in. interior diameter of the tube through every radius and angle change, ensuring the flow area improvement over stock is maintained at every point in the circuit and not negated by collapsed sections at bends that would reintroduce restriction.
  • Improved boost pressure retention and charge density - by reducing restriction and turbulence through the intercooler circuit, the 25990 improves the retention of boost pressure between the turbocharger, intercooler, and intake manifold. Higher charge pressure delivered to the intake means denser air delivered to each cylinder, supporting more efficient combustion and enabling more fuel to be added for measurable horsepower and torque gains.
  • Lower exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) - improved charge air delivery increases combustion efficiency and reduces the excess fuel required to compensate for restricted airflow, directly reducing EGTs that are the primary thermal stress and durability concern for tuned 6.7L Cummins applications.
  • Red powdercoat finish with bare tube ends - the tubes feature a red powdercoat finish that stops intentionally before the tube ends, leaving the raw aluminized steel surface exposed at the coupler connection points. This bare-metal grip surface prevents the silicone couplers from sliding on a slick painted surface under high boost conditions, substantially improving coupler retention compared to fully painted tubes.
  • 4-ply and 5-ply heavy-duty high-temperature silicone couplers - the kit includes both 4-ply and 5-ply reinforced silicone couplers sized for the 3.5 in. tubes, providing the wall thickness and reinforcement required to maintain their round shape and seal integrity under the elevated boost pressures of a modified 6.7L Cummins without the coupler collapse and boost leaks common with thinner-wall alternatives.
  • Spring-loaded constant tension clamps - the included clamps maintain continuous clamping pressure on the silicone couplers regardless of thermal expansion and contraction cycles during operation, preventing the coupler loosening and boost leaks that develop over time with conventional worm-gear clamps that require periodic re-tightening as operating temperatures cycle.
  • Compatible with Banks Monster-Ram - the 25990 tubes are designed to interface directly with the Banks Monster-Ram intake manifold upgrade (both 3.5" and 4" versions) as well as the stock intake elbow, making the boost tubes a logical pairing with or without the Monster-Ram in the build.

Product Description

The Banks Power 25990 Boost Tube Upgrade Kit is a complete hot-side and cold-side intercooler boost tube replacement for the 2007.5-2009 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 with the 6.7L Cummins turbodiesel. Replacing the factory 2.73 in. tubes with Banks' mandrel-bent 3.5 in. aluminized steel units provides 40% greater flow area through the intercooler charge circuit - the section of the air path between the turbocharger outlet, intercooler, and intake manifold that is responsible for delivering compressed, cooled charge air to the engine. On the 6.7L Cummins, the stock boost tubes represent a meaningful restriction in this circuit, requiring the turbocharger to build more pressure than necessary to overcome the tube restriction and forcing slower spool-up times, higher EGTs from richer compensation, and lower net boost pressure reaching the intake manifold than the turbo is generating at the wheel.

The mandrel bending process that Banks uses for the 25990 tubes is the fundamental construction detail that separates them from cheaper alternatives. Conventional crush or compression bending collapses tube walls at each bend, creating ridges, oval cross-sections, and flow turbulence at every angle change - negating part of the flow area advantage the larger diameter provides. Mandrel bending uses an internal mandrel support through every bend radius, maintaining the full circular 3.5 in. cross-section throughout the tube's entire length and preserving the flow advantage at every point in the circuit. Combined with the red powdercoat that intentionally stops before the tube ends - leaving raw aluminized steel at every coupler connection point for maximum coupler grip - and the included heavy-duty 4-ply and 5-ply high-temperature silicone couplers with spring-loaded constant tension clamps, the 25990 is engineered to stay sealed under the elevated and sustained boost pressures of a modified 6.7L Cummins without the coupler blowoff and boost leaks that plague lesser systems at high boost levels.

The 25990 is designed for direct compatibility with the factory intake elbow and the Banks Monster-Ram intake manifold (3.5 in. and 4 in.), and works with the stock intercooler or any aftermarket intercooler retaining stock inlet/outlet sizing and locations. The hot and cold side tubes address the full intercooler circuit in a single kit purchase, eliminating the need to source tubes separately and ensuring both sides of the circuit match. For 2007.5-2009 Ram 2500/3500 owners tuning the 6.7L Cummins, the boost tube upgrade is a high-value entry-level hardware modification that delivers measurable EGT reduction and faster turbo response as an immediate result of reduced charge circuit restriction.
