Vehicle Fitment

  • 1989-2007 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 (5.9L Cummins, 47RH/47RE/48RE Automatic Transmission)

Fitment Notes

  • Covers 12-valve (1989-1998), 24-valve (1998.5-2002), and Common Rail (2003-2007) 5.9L Cummins engine generations
  • For 1989-1993 trucks, a flat-back style (non-lock-up) torque converter must be installed with this flexplate - the stock lock-up-style converter from these years is not compatible
  • Compatible with both stock and aftermarket torque converters on 1994-and-later applications
  • Sold as a kit

Features

  • SFI-approved construction rated for race-application standards
  • Machined from solid billet steel for significantly greater strength than the stock stamped-steel flexplate
  • Resists cracking and shattering under high-horsepower and towing loads
  • Compatible with stock and aftermarket torque converters (see fitment notes for 1989-1993 exception)
  • Reduces the risk of catastrophic flexplate failure during hard acceleration or heavy load
  • Recommended upgrade when running an aftermarket triple-disc or higher-capacity torque converter
  • Precision-machined for accurate balance and reduced drivetrain vibration
  • Direct-fit replacement for the factory flexplate

Product Description

The factory stamped-steel flexplate on 1989-2007 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 trucks with the 5.9L Cummins is a known weak point once power levels climb past stock. Under the added torque of towing, performance tuning, or an upgraded torque converter, that thin factory plate can crack or shatter outright - often at the worst possible time. ATS built this billet flexplate specifically to eliminate that failure point.

Machined from solid billet steel and SFI approved to race-application standards, this flexplate is engineered to handle the stress that high-horsepower Cummins builds put on the drivetrain, transferring power to the wheels without the flex and fatigue that dooms the stock part. It's a common companion upgrade for anyone stepping up to a triple-disc or higher-capacity aftermarket torque converter, where the added clamping force accelerates wear on a factory flexplate.

One fitment detail matters here: 1989-1993 trucks require a flat-back, non-lock-up style torque converter to pair with this flexplate rather than the factory lock-up unit. Later 1994-and-up applications work with both stock and aftermarket converters. Confirm your truck's converter style before ordering to avoid a compatibility mismatch at install.
