Product Description

The Old Man Emu EL112R is a Dakar rear leaf spring built for 2005-2023 6-Lug Toyota Tacoma trucks carrying constant heavy rear loads, such as Overland builds with permanently installed weight. A two-stage leaf pack pairs a softer initial rate for daily-driving comfort with a stiffer secondary rate that engages under load, delivering 193/506 lbf/in of progressive spring rate.

Draw-tapered, diamond-cut leaves with a military wrap design add strength and reduce stress, while the pack is fully scragged and shot peened to resist sagging and fatigue over time. Re-greasable nylon interleaf pads cut friction at the leaf tips, and a flat axle seat area provides a positive, safe axle mount that reduces overall spring stress. Updated leaf separation plates and plastic-lined spring clip retainers specifically address the squeaking and noise issues found on earlier Tacoma leaf spring designs.

Lift height depends heavily on load and model year -- expect roughly 2.50 to 2.75 inches on 2005-2015 trucks and closer to 2.00 inches on 2016 and newer, with more added weight reducing the amount of lift gained. This spring does not include bushings, and longer-than-stock U-bolts are required but not included. Extended-travel rear shocks are strongly recommended alongside this upgrade, and 2005-2015 owners should also consider a driveshaft packer kit to manage driveline angle.
