The AMS Performance AMS.48.08.0001-1 is the open airbox variant of the G8X S58 intake system, engineered for the BMW M2 (G87), M3 (G80/G81), and M4 (G82/G83) across all sub-models. At its core is a 3.5" carbon fiber intake tube and cast aluminum turbo inlet elbows up to 128% larger than stock, creating a dramatically less restrictive path to the S58's twin compressor wheels. Flowbench testing conducted with MoTeC instrumentation showed only -1.05 psi of depression at the right intake tract versus -2.15 psi for the OEM system at equivalent airflow - a 48% reduction in restriction that translates directly to power on the dyno.

Independent dyno testing on a fully tuned 2023 M3 Competition xDrive on E60 produced a peak gain of +86 WHP over stock intakes, with an average of +66 WHP above 5,000 RPM. The open-top airbox design enhances intake sound and airflow, while the dry filter media simplifies maintenance - periodic compressed air cleaning restores filter performance without the need for re-oiling.
