Product Description

The AMP Research 19-04279-XTA is the Xtreme-series replacement controller (Type A, Revision 6) for AMP Research PowerStep Xtreme electric running boards. The PowerStep Xtreme is AMP Research's most capable running board line, designed specifically for demanding environments including sub-zero winters, mud-packed rockers, and extreme off-road conditions. Unlike the standard PowerStep's single-motor design, the PowerStep Xtreme uses a four-motor configuration requiring its own dedicated controller - and the 19-04279-XTA is the correct replacement when that controller fails due to electrical damage, corrosion, or age-related component failure. It is compatible with all 78xxx-series PowerStep Xtreme kits as well as kits 75135-01A, 77135-01A, and 76247-01A, spanning a wide range of 2008-2025 Chevrolet, GMC, Dodge/RAM, and Ford truck applications.

This controller replaces the original unit directly and restores full automatic operation: steps deploy when any door is opened and retract approximately 3 seconds after all doors are closed, with the dual-motor anti-pinch system remaining active to stop movement if an obstruction is detected. The controller includes a secondary connector plug dedicated to AMP Research's optional Override Switch (79105-01A or 79106-01A), which allows manual deployment or retraction - useful for washing, off-roading, or any situation where door-triggered automation is not desired.

Two important compatibility exclusions apply: the 19-04279-XTA does NOT work with PowerStep kits 75141-01A or 75134-01A, which require a different controller type.
