Vehicle Fitment

  • 2023-2026 Chevrolet Colorado - All Cabs and Trims (WT, LT, Z71, ZR2, Trail Boss, and all other trims)
  • 2023-2026 GMC Canyon - All Cabs and Trims (Elevation, AT4, Denali, and all other trims)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits the fully redesigned fourth-generation Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon platform introduced for the 2023 model year - does NOT fit the previous generation (2015-2022) Colorado or Canyon; those applications require a different kit number
  • The 2023-2026 Colorado and Canyon are offered exclusively in Crew Cab configuration; this kit fits all available cab and trim combinations on covered model years
  • Drilling IS required for installation on all covered applications - the installation guide details the specific drilling locations; all necessary hardware is included in the kit
  • Connects via the vehicle's OBD-II diagnostic port using the included Plug-N-Play module - eliminates the need to remove door panels or splice into factory wiring during installation
  • If the OBD-II port needs to remain accessible for a scan tool while the PowerStep is connected, the AMP Research Plug-N-Play Pass-Through Harness (PN 76404-01A) is required and sold separately
  • Professional installation is recommended; experienced DIYers can install at home using the included vehicle-specific installation guide

Features

  • Automatically deploys when any door is opened and retracts approximately 3 seconds after all doors close - drops significantly lower than traditional fixed-position running boards to provide a convenient, ergonomically correct boarding height
  • When retracted, boards tuck fully under the rocker panel - preserving factory ground clearance, aerodynamic profile, and the clean side profile of the truck with no exposed hardware visible from outside
  • Plug-N-Play OBD-II installation simplifies wiring - connects under the dash via the OBD-II port, reading door-open and door-closed signals without splicing into factory wiring or removing interior panels
  • Corrosion-resistant die-cast aluminum construction with military-grade PTFE coating and anodized black finish resists oxidation, abrasion, and UV degradation across all seasons and climates
  • Precision stainless steel pivot pins and maintenance-free self-lubricating bushings ensure smooth, consistent operation in all weather conditions with no periodic lubrication required
  • Textured, non-slip 6-inch wide step surface provides full cab-length coverage for confident footing in all footwear types and weather conditions, including mud, rain, ice, and snow
  • Integrated low-profile LED courtesy lights illuminate the step surface and surrounding ground during each deployment; lights extinguish automatically when the steps retract
  • Anti-pinch safety technology monitors for resistance during step movement and stops the motor if an obstruction is detected
  • 600 lb. load capacity per side - twice the rating of most competing stationary running boards
  • Optional Override Switch (sold separately) available for manual control of step deployment and retraction independent of door inputs
  • American designed and engineered; backed by AMP Research's industry-leading 5-year / 60,000-mile limited warranty

Product Description

The AMP Research 76253-01A PowerStep is a Plug-N-Play automatic electric running board kit designed specifically for the fully redesigned 2023-2026 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. This kit covers all cab and trim combinations on the fourth-generation Colorado/Canyon platform - including Z71, ZR2, Trail Boss, AT4, and Denali - as the 2023 redesign offers only the Crew Cab body style across all trim lines. This kit is not compatible with the previous-generation (2015-2022) Colorado or Canyon, which require a different part number.

The Plug-N-Play system connects to the truck's OBD-II diagnostic port under the dash, eliminating the need to remove door panels or splice into factory wiring. Door-open and door-closed signals are read through the OBD-II connection to trigger automatic step deployment and retraction. Unlike some PowerStep applications, drilling is required on all covered Colorado/Canyon installations - specific drilling locations are identified in the included vehicle-specific installation guide. If the OBD-II port needs to remain accessible for a diagnostic tool while the PowerStep is connected, the AMP Research Pass-Through Harness (PN 76404-01A) is available separately.

The step boards are constructed from die-cast aluminum with a military-grade PTFE coating and anodized black finish - the same proven materials used across the full PowerStep lineup. The 6-inch wide textured non-slip surface provides full cab-length coverage for confident footing in all weather conditions. Integrated LED courtesy lights activate with each deployment and extinguish automatically when the steps retract. The system supports 600 lbs. per side with anti-pinch safety technology. The 76253-01A is backed by AMP Research's 5-year / 60,000-mile limited warranty.
