Fitment Notes

• Fits front or rear wheel positions on all listed C5 and C6 Corvettes.
• C6 fitment requires 30-spline rear axles. This bearing does NOT fit C6 Corvettes equipped with 33-spline axles.
• Does NOT fit 2009 or later C6 Corvette models under any configuration.
• Sold individually - one bearing per unit. Two bearings are required for an axle pair (front or rear).

The aFe Control 480-401001-A PFADT Series SKF Performance Wheel Bearing is a precision-engineered, high-performance hub unit designed as a direct replacement for the factory wheel bearings in 1997-2008 Chevrolet Corvette C5 and C6 models. Developed under the PFADT Series - aFe Control's purpose-built line of Corvette suspension components - this bearing uses the SKF X-Tracker platform, an angular contact ball bearing design originally developed for motorsport applications where the lateral cornering loads far exceed what conventional OEM-spec bearings are designed to handle. The factory Corvette wheel bearings are adequate for normal road use but are a recognized weak point on C5 and C6 platforms used for high-performance driving, track days, and autocross, where repeated high-g cornering loads, thermal cycling, and abrupt braking events can accelerate wear, introduce runout, and degrade both handling precision and brake performance.

The X-Tracker's defining engineering feature is its non-symmetrical double row ball arrangement: the outboard row - which bears the majority of cornering-induced lateral load - is built to a larger diameter and incorporates more balls than the inboard row, concentrating load capacity exactly where it is demanded most during aggressive cornering. The result is a hub unit with far greater resistance to lateral deflection than a symmetrical bearing design of equivalent overall size. The flange face run-out specification of less than 10 microns is a critical detail for performance braking applications: rotor lateral runout caused by excessive bearing flange run-out is a primary driver of caliper piston knock-back - where rotor wobble pushes back the caliper pistons, creating an inconsistent brake pedal on initial application after aggressive cornering. The sub-10-micron run-out tolerance of this bearing directly reduces this phenomenon.

The integrated speed sensor is fully compatible with the factory ABS and stability control systems of all 1997-2008 Corvettes, requiring no wiring changes or electronic modifications.
