Fitment Notes

• Compatible with OEM, Holley EFI, and other stand-alone ECU/ECM systems
• Requires a return/bypass-type fuel pressure regulator - this is a return-style system, not returnless
• Not recommended for engines producing only 0-10 inHg of vacuum (roughly 65-100 kPa ABS), since low vacuum leaves insufficient range for the MAP sensor to operate effectively on a naturally aspirated combination
• A separate supercharged/forced-induction dual-pump version (P/N 66169) is available for boosted builds

Product Description

The Aeromotive 66166 is a stand-alone ReturnX PWM controller built for dual-pump, return-style fuel systems on naturally aspirated engines. It works alongside a traditional return/bypass-type fuel pressure regulator, using MAP-based feedback to control pump speed rather than running both pumps at full voltage continuously.

The controller's primary output keeps enough pump speed available to maintain fuel pressure at idle and cruise, while the secondary pump follows at a lower duty cycle and ramps in smoothly as demand increases - no relays or Hobbs switches required. For carbureted and EFI setups, the included MAP sensor simply connects to a manifold vacuum source, and the controller manages pump speed from there.

This controller suits naturally aspirated builds running dual brushed-type fuel pumps that want reduced fuel heating and extended pump life compared to running both pumps at full duty cycle. Because it relies on manifold vacuum for its MAP reference, it's best suited to combinations that pull meaningful vacuum at idle rather than very high-vacuum-averse, radical cam profiles.
