Vehicle Fitment

  • Universal - compatible with any fuel system using -12 AN (ORB-12) fuel line connections. Designed for use with gasoline and alcohol (methanol/ethanol) fuels in both race and high-performance street applications.

Fitment Notes

  • Both the inlet and outlet are ORB-12 (12 AN female O-ring boss) ports. These are O-ring boss ports and are not pipe thread - do not use thread sealant. Standard -12 AN male O-ring fittings and -12 AN fuel hose or hard line are required and not included.
  • This filter is specifically designed and recommended for pre-pump inlet filtration - installation between the fuel cell or sumped fuel tank outlet and the fuel pump inlet. The 100-micron coarse stainless element is appropriate for this position; it captures large particulates before they reach the pump without creating excessive inlet restriction that would cause pump cavitation. Do not install a 100-micron element on the outlet (pressure) side of the fuel pump in place of a finer post-pump filter.
  • The shutoff valve must be in the closed position before removing the filter body for element service. Verify the valve is fully closed before loosening any fittings. With the valve closed and the filter isolated, the element can be removed, cleaned, and reinstalled with minimal fuel loss - eliminating the need to drain the fuel tank or fuel cell prior to filter service.
  • The 100-micron stainless mesh element is cleanable and reusable. Service interval will depend on fuel quality, tank condition, and system usage. Aeromotive recommends inspecting the element regularly for contamination, particularly after initial installation of a new fuel system where manufacturing debris may be present.

Features

  • The defining feature of the 12332 is the integrated proprietary shutoff valve - a stainless steel valve mechanism built into the filter housing with a red anodized billet aluminum handle. When the handle is rotated to the closed position, fuel flow through the filter is isolated, allowing the filter body to be opened and the element serviced without draining the fuel system upstream. This eliminates a significant logistical obstacle in race car fuel system maintenance, where draining a fuel cell or sumped tank to change a filter element wastes time and fuel.
  • The 100-micron stainless steel mesh element is a coarse pre-pump filter designed to capture large particulates - metal shavings, debris, and tank contamination - before they reach and damage the fuel pump. At 100 microns, the element provides effective large-particle protection without creating inlet vacuum that would cavitate the pump. All Aeromotive electric fuel pumps require a 100-micron or coarser filter on their inlet side; finer elements on the inlet will starve the pump of flow.
  • The stainless steel element is cleanable and reusable - it can be removed, flushed clean with solvent or fuel, and reinstalled without replacement, reducing long-term maintenance cost compared to disposable paper or fabric filter elements in this filtration position.
  • The Type II bright-dip black anodized aluminum housing provides corrosion resistance and long service life in the harsh chemical environment of a high-performance fuel system. The hard anodize protects the aluminum from degradation by both gasoline and alcohol fuels.
  • At 8.82" long and 2.5" in diameter, the 12332 is compact enough for installation in tight chassis locations common in race car fuel system routing, while providing sufficient internal volume to house the full-surface-area stainless element needed for high-flow applications.
  • Compatible with gasoline and alcohol (methanol and ethanol) fuels. Non-emissions-related part per CARB and EPA regulations - legal in all 50 states.

Product Description

The Aeromotive 12332 is an inline fuel filter with an integrated shutoff valve, configured with ORB-12 (12 AN O-ring boss) ports and a 100-micron cleanable stainless steel mesh element. It is designed for pre-pump inlet installation - the filtration position between the fuel cell or sumped tank outlet and the fuel pump inlet - where coarse 100-micron filtration protects the pump from large particulates without creating the inlet restriction that finer elements would impose at this location.

The defining advantage of the 12332 over a conventional inline filter is the proprietary integrated shutoff valve. In a standard inline filter, servicing the element requires either draining the upstream fuel tank or accepting significant fuel spillage when the filter is opened. The 12332's shutoff valve closes off fuel flow at the filter housing, isolating the element for removal, cleaning, and reinstallation with minimal fuel loss. In a race environment where fuel cells may hold 12 or more gallons of fuel, this saves both time and fuel during routine maintenance - making filter service practical as a between-run or between-event task rather than a major teardown.

The 100-micron stainless element is cleanable and reusable, and the Type II black anodized aluminum housing is built for long-term durability in both gasoline and alcohol fuel systems. The red anodized billet aluminum shutoff valve handle provides a clear visual reference to valve position and is easy to operate even with gloves. Non-emissions-related per CARB and EPA regulations; 50-state legal.
