Vehicle Fitment

  • 2000-2003 Honda S2000 AP1 (F20C1, 2.0L DOHC VTEC I4, 1997cc, RWD) - All Trims including Type V
  • 2004-2009 Honda S2000 AP2 (F22C1, 2.2L DOHC VTEC I4, 2157cc, RWD) - All Trims including Club Racer (CR)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits both the F20C1 (AP1, 2000-2003) and F22C1 (AP2, 2004-2009) engine variants - both share the same crankshaft main journal dimensions
  • Fits all global market S2000 variants (USDM, JDM, EUDM) equipped with the F20C or F22C1 engine
  • STD (standard) size - crankshaft main journals must be at factory OEM standard diameter; do not use on undersize-ground crankshafts
  • Does NOT fit any other Honda engine family - this bearing set is engineered exclusively for the F20C / F22C1 architecture
  • Professional engine builder recommended; oil clearances must be verified with precision measurement tools prior to final assembly

Features

  • ACL Race Series tri-metal construction engineered for sustained high-RPM operation - critical for the F20C's 9,000 RPM and F22C1's 8,200 RPM redlines
  • High-strength overlay plate with reduced thickness for superior fatigue resistance under repeated high-load cycling
  • Hardened steel backing on all shells to improve support of the bearing lining and assist with retention within the housing under extreme conditions
  • Increased bearing crush for improved housing retention and elimination of flash plating on the back to maximize heat transfer and grip against the bearing tunnel
  • 3/4 grooved upper main bearing shells to optimize oil supply to all crankshaft main journals and maximize load-carrying capacity
  • Increased eccentricity to compensate for bore distortion at high RPM and to assist in the formation of a stable hydrodynamic oil film
  • Tighter, more consistent wall tolerances than OEM for repeatable and precise oil clearances during engine assembly
  • Large chamfer design to accommodate the fillet radius of performance-reground or OEM crankshafts
  • Compatible with adjacent HX-STD shells for fine-tuning oil clearances per ACL guidelines (max difference between shells: 0.0005"/0.013mm)
  • Proven motorsport heritage - ACL Race Series bearings have been used in professional racing programs globally since the 1960s

Product Description

The ACL Race Series 5M1913H-STD is a standard-size crankshaft main bearing set engineered specifically for the Honda F20C and F22C1 engines - the legendary inline-four powerplants found in every Honda S2000 produced from 2000 through 2009. The F20C in the AP1 (2000-2003) is renowned for its 9,000 RPM redline and class-leading specific output of 125 hp per liter, while the F22C1 in the AP2 (2004-2009) carries the same fundamental architecture with a longer stroke for increased displacement and improved mid-range torque. Both engines place extreme demands on their rotating assembly components, and the stock crankshaft main bearings - while adequate from the factory - can become a liability during a performance engine build, high-boost forced induction application, or a high-mileage rebuild where oil clearances have drifted beyond specification.

ACL Race Series bearings address these demands directly through a purpose-engineered tri-metal construction using F780 bearing material. The high-strength overlay plate is manufactured to a reduced thickness compared to OEM bearings, improving resistance to fatigue cracking under the cyclical loading characteristic of sustained high-RPM use. A hardened steel backing maintains bearing crush under the elevated thermal and mechanical loads generated by a built F-series engine, while elimination of flash plating on the bearing back maximizes thermal conductivity and frictional grip between the shell and its housing bore - preventing the micro-movement that leads to fretting and housing damage. The 3/4 groove pattern on the upper shells ensures continuous oil supply to all five main journals across the engine's full RPM range, and increased eccentricity helps form a stable hydrodynamic oil wedge at the extreme rev limits the F20C and F22C1 are designed to operate at.

This listing covers the STD (standard size) set, intended for use with an unmachined crankshaft measuring at OEM standard main journal diameter (54.976-55.000mm shaft diameter). As with all performance bearing installations, oil clearances must be measured and verified using plastigage or precision micrometers prior to final torque and assembly - do not assume clearance based on size alone. For applications requiring additional oil clearance (e.g., turbo builds or engines running thinner oil viscosity), ACL's HX-STD variant (5M1913HX-STD) provides an additional 0.025mm clearance, and individual shell grades can be mixed per ACL's published guidelines. The 5M1913H-STD is suitable for naturally aspirated builds, forced induction street builds, track and time-attack applications, and full race engines using the Honda S2000 F-series platform.
