Vehicle Fitment

• Universal - No vehicle-specific fitment. Designed to fit most popular EFI in-tank applications. Compatible with any vehicle or custom fuel system requiring a 39mm in-tank brushless pump for builds up to 1,000+ HP on gasoline or E85/flex fuel. Application-specific hangers, fuel surge tanks, or installation hardware may be required depending on the fuel tank design.

Fitment Notes

• This is a universal in-tank fuel pump kit. Compatibility is determined by fuel tank configuration, hanger dimensions, and system requirements. Verify fitment with your specific fuel system design before purchase.
• The E5LM pump is designed for in-tank installation only. It is NOT suitable for external/inline mounting.
• This pump does NOT include an integrated check valve in the outlet. An outlet check valve adapter (such as those offered by Radium Engineering) may be required for proper system function depending on fuel system design.
• The E5LM pump and PWM controller are matched components and are NOT available separately. Both are required for operation.
• The controller requires a squarewave frequency input (battery voltage to ground) at 100Hz for full PWM operation. Without PWM input, the pump runs at 100% duty cycle.
• Compatible with gasoline and E85/flex fuel. Suitable for both naturally aspirated and boosted applications.
• This pump supersedes the Walbro BKS1000. The BKS1001 adds optional PWM speed control not available on the BKS1000.

The Walbro BKS1001-4 is TI Automotive's next-generation brushless in-tank fuel pump and controller kit, succeeding the popular BKS1000. At its core is the E5LM positive displacement screw pump - a brushless pump design that fundamentally outperforms conventional brushed turbine pumps in three key areas: flow consistency, heat generation, and longevity. The screw pump design delivers smooth, pulsation-free fuel flow at 550+ LPH at 13.5V/40 psi, supporting up to 1,000+ HP on gasoline or E85/flex fuel from a single in-tank unit. Unlike impeller-based brushed pumps that lose efficiency as pressure rises, the positive displacement design maintains strong flow across a wider pressure range, making it well suited to both high-boost forced induction builds and demanding naturally aspirated high-RPM applications.

The defining upgrade of the BKS1001 over its predecessor is the addition of PWM (pulse-width modulation) speed control. The matched controller supports three operating modes: full 100% duty cycle (default, with no signal input), 50% duty cycle (by grounding the command wire), and full variable PWM control via a 100Hz battery-level squarewave input. This allows the pump to be integrated with compatible ECUs or standalone PWM controllers for demand-based fuel delivery - a significant advantage on builds where the pump runs at partial throttle for extended periods, as it reduces fuel temperature, heat soak, and current draw compared to running at full capacity continuously. At full load the controller draws just 16A at 4 bar, considerably lower than comparable brushed pump setups at similar flow rates.

The sealed, weather-resistant controller with its 3-foot wiring leads simplifies installation in a wide range of fuel system configurations, including factory tank hangars, custom billet surge tanks, and dedicated single-pump fuel cell setups. The 39mm body diameter maintains broad compatibility with existing hanger assemblies and purpose-built fuel system hardware.
