Product Description

The Hotchkis 22826R is the rear-only sport sway bar designed and manufactured specifically for the 2001-2006 BMW E46 M3. It is the rear component of the Hotchkis 22826 complete sway bar system, available separately for owners who wish to upgrade the rear of the car independently, replace a worn bar, or pair it with a different front setup. The E46 M3 as delivered from BMW exhibits a pronounced understeer bias and limited rear roll control - characteristics that reduce the driver's ability to rotate the car on corner entry or adjust the car's attitude with throttle application on exit. The 22826R directly addresses this by replacing the OEM rear bar with a 25mm hollow tubular unit offering two adjustment positions: +79% and +105% stiffer than the stock E46 M3 rear bar.

The practical result of the increased rear roll stiffness is a more neutral handling balance - the rear axle resists roll more effectively, reducing the tendency toward push-understeer and allowing the front of the car to bite into a corner more aggressively. In the stiffer position (+105%), the car becomes rotation-biased enough for an experienced driver to steer with the throttle on corner exit, accessing the full lateral capability of the S54 drivetrain. The two adjustment positions are selected by repositioning the end links between the bar's two available holes, which requires no tools beyond what's already needed for normal end link service - making mid-session changes manageable even at the track. Performance rear end links designed for the increased bar stiffness are included in the kit.

The bar is CNC bent for a precise fit to the E46 M3 rear subframe, finished in gloss black powder coat for durability, and includes greasable polyurethane bushings that eliminate the flex of OEM rubber for direct and consistent bar engagement.
