For the 2011-2016 GM/Chevy/GMC trucks with the 6.6 L Duramax LML engine and the 2011-2019 Ford Super Duty trucks with the 6.7 L Powerstroke engine, this metering valve serves as a critical insurance item in the event of CP4-style pump failure or contaminant ingestion.

When a CP4.2 failure occurs, metal debris can be thrown into the entire fuel system, often leading to catastrophic injector, rail, and sensor damage.
