Product Description

The Rampage 86618 is a heavy-duty rear tailgate gas strut stabilizer designed for 2007-2010 Jeep Wrangler JK and JKU models. It replaces the effort of manually propping the tailgate open by using a pressurized gas strut to automatically assist the tailgate in opening and holding itself in position. The integrated dampener slows and controls the opening swing, preventing the door from flying open abruptly - a particularly useful feature on heavily loaded Jeeps with oversized spare tires weighing down the tailgate.

Installation requires drilling into the interior of the tailgate to mount the included billet brackets using self-tapping screws. Care should be taken not to drill through the outer tailgate skin. Installation instructions are available as a downloadable PDF from Rampage's website. The strut is black powder coated and compatible with both 2-door and 4-door JK configurations. A 1-year limited warranty is included.
