Fitment Notes

This is the small-hub (1.816" side gear hub diameter) loaded carrier case - fits 2007 & down GM 11.5" differentials only; does NOT fit 2008 & up GM differentials, which use the large-hub (2.060") design
All Dodge/Ram 11.5" differentials use the large-hub (2.060") side gear design - if installing in a Dodge Ram application, confirm the hub size matches before ordering
11.5" GM and Chrysler AAM differentials have a 14-bolt cover and 12-bolt ring gear; do not confuse with the GM 14-bolt (10.5") semi-float or full-float rear axles, which are different differentials entirely
Side bearing races and bearings are not included - new bearings must be pressed on before installation
Ring gear is not included - the existing ring gear bolts to this carrier case

Product Description

The Yukon YC G40000278 is a standard open carrier case loaded with small-hub spider and side gears for the AAM/GM 11.5" rear differential found in 2001-2007 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD trucks. This is a direct OEM-style replacement for a worn or damaged open carrier case, delivered pre-loaded with spider and side gears so installation is straightforward - press on new side bearings, bolt on the existing ring gear, and set up pinion depth and backlash as normal.

The critical fitment detail for the AAM 11.5" is the side gear hub diameter. This unit contains the small-hub (1.816") design found in 2007 and earlier GM 11.5" differentials. The 2008 and newer GM differentials and all Dodge Ram AAM 11.5" differentials use the large-hub (2.060") design - ordering the wrong hub size will result in improper fitment. Yukon casts and machines these carrier cases to exacting specifications for high strength and tight tolerances, ensuring proper gear mesh, quiet operation, and long service life. Side bearing races and bearings must be pressed on separately.
