  • 2001-2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK320 (R170 Roadster, RWD, 3.2L V6 M112)
  • 2002-2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK32 AMG (R170 Roadster, RWD, 3.2L Supercharged V6 AMG M112)

Fitment Notes

  • Fits RWD drivetrain only - all listed Crossfire and SLK R170 variants are rear-wheel drive.
  • Does NOT fit vehicles equipped with Electronic Damper Control (EDC) or any other factory electronic adaptive suspension system - standard (non-electronic) suspension only.
  • Front axle load must not exceed 905 kg; rear axle load must not exceed 850 kg for proper coilover function per Bilstein certification.
  • The Chrysler Crossfire and Mercedes-Benz SLK R170 share the same platform - this kit fits both due to their shared suspension architecture.
  • Ride height adjustment can be performed with the coilovers installed on the vehicle - no removal required for height changes.
  • Wheel alignment is required after installation and after any ride height adjustment to ensure proper suspension geometry.
  • Note: The 2004 Chrysler Crossfire was offered in a single trim level only; Base and Limited trim designations were introduced for the 2005 model year onward.

Features

  • Height-adjustable threaded coilover body provides 15-35mm of front lowering and 10-30mm of rear lowering, with an overall adjustment range of approximately 30-50mm achievable via the threaded spring perch.
  • Front coilover struts and rear shock absorbers both feature monotube gas-pressure construction with performance-level application-specific valving tuned for the R170 platform.
  • Solid aluminum spring seat and lock nut allow precise on-car ride height adjustment - height can be fine-tuned in 20mm increments while the kit is installed, without uninstalling the shocks.
  • Application-specific progressive-rate coil springs are matched to the damper valving for optimal compression and rebound balance across the full ride height adjustment range.
  • Bilstein's patented Triple-C-Technology® zinc coating on the threaded damper body provides long-lasting corrosion resistance against road salt, moisture, and environmental wear.
  • Performance-level damper settings deliver significantly improved cornering stability, reduced body roll, and sharper steering response versus factory suspension.
  • Developed and fine-tuned by Bilstein engineers on the Nurburgring and at Bilstein's Papenburg proving ground under real-world motorsport conditions.
  • Direct-fit OE-quality design - no chassis modifications required; bolts directly onto factory suspension mounting points.
  • Improves vehicle stability and comfort on both road and occasional track driving by lowering the center of gravity and reducing aerodynamic lift.
  • Made in Germany - manufactured to Bilstein's precision OE-level standards.

Product Description

The Bilstein 47-119536 B14 PSS is a complete front and rear coilover suspension kit purpose-built for the Mercedes-Benz R170 platform - encompassing the 1998-2004 Mercedes-Benz SLK230 Kompressor, 2001-2004 SLK320, 2002-2004 SLK32 AMG, and their American counterpart the 2004-2008 Chrysler Crossfire (all trims, including SRT-6) in both Coupe and Roadster body styles. All of these vehicles share the same R170 chassis and suspension architecture, making this a single-kit solution for the entire platform family. The B14 PSS sits above the fixed-height B12 Pro-Kit in Bilstein's lineup: where the B12 locks you into a set drop, the B14 PSS features a threaded coilover body with an aluminum spring seat and lock nut that allows the driver to fine-tune ride height between 15-35mm at the front and 10-30mm at the rear - all while the kit is installed on the car.

The dampers themselves are monotube gas-pressure units with performance-level application-specific valving developed and validated on the Nurburgring and at Bilstein's Papenburg test facility. The valving is tuned specifically for the R170 platform's weight distribution, suspension geometry, and the driving characteristics expected from these compact roadsters. Matched progressive-rate springs complete the package, compressing smoothly over road imperfections at low loads and stiffening progressively under hard cornering or braking to provide tighter body control. The lowered center of gravity reduces aerodynamic lift, decreases body roll through corners, and sharpens overall steering response - whether the car is used as a daily driver or sees occasional track time. Bilstein's Triple-C-Technology® zinc coating on the threaded body resists road salt, moisture, and corrosion for long-term durability.

This kit is strictly for standard suspension vehicles - it is not compatible with Electronic Damper Control (EDC) or other factory adaptive suspension systems. All covered vehicles are rear-wheel drive, and this kit is tuned accordingly. As with any suspension modification, a four-wheel alignment is required after installation and after any subsequent ride height adjustment. Sold as a complete kit covering all four corners, the 47-119536 is one of the most versatile and precisely engineered lowering options available for the R170 platform, delivering a combination of adjustability, damping quality, and fit-and-finish that purely spring-based kits cannot match.
