Fitment Notes

• Bolts to the factory rear tailgate door hinge mounts - no drilling required for TJ models. Some YJ configurations may vary.
• The third brake light extender bracket is included but does NOT function correctly on the YJ - the brake light extender is designed for the TJ's brake light mounting configuration.
• Supports oversized spare tires up to 35 inches in diameter - not recommended for tires larger than 35 inches.
• Not recommended for use with very aggressive large tires where clearance from the factory bumper stop posts may be an issue - the spare may not seat against the bumps on non-standard backspacing wheels.
• Works with factory and most aftermarket third brake lights on TJ models.

Product Description

The Rampage 86616 Rear Tailgate Tire Extender is a heavy-duty 3/16" steel bracket kit designed for 1987-2006 Jeep Wrangler YJ and TJ owners who have upgraded to oversized tires and need their spare to match. By bolting to the factory door hinge mounting points, the extender raises and moves the spare tire mount outward, providing the clearance needed to carry a full-size oversized spare - up to 35 inches - without interfering with the tailgate or bumper.

The kit also includes a third brake light repositioning bracket that moves the factory or aftermarket brake light upward above the elevated tire, maintaining visibility and road legality. Installation requires no drilling on TJ models and hardware is included. Note that while the tire extender fits both YJ and TJ, the brake light extender bracket is specifically designed for TJ applications and may not work correctly on YJ brake light housings. A 1-year limited warranty is included.
