  • 2022-present Jeep Wagoneer / Grand Wagoneer - 5.7L, 6.4L HEMI

Fitment Notes

  • 2009+ Gen III HEMI only - three engine families covered:
    • 5.7L Eagle VCT (2009+): revised cylinder heads, Variable Camshaft Timing (VCT), and updated piston ring spec distinguish it from the 2003-2008 Pre-Eagle. The 2003-2008 5.7L uses 5M2220H instead.
    • 6.4L Apache/392 (2011+): ESG and ESH variants - naturally aspirated SRT platform in Challenger, Charger, Grand Cherokee SRT, and Wagoneer.
    • 6.2L Hellcat/Demon/Redeye (2014+): ESD and ESJ supercharged variants - TRX, Trackhawk, Challenger/Charger SRT Hellcat and derivatives.
  • Does NOT fit the 6.1L SRT8 HEMI (2005-2010) - a different part number is required for the 6.1L.
  • Thrust washers (TW-611S) are sold separately and are not included in this set.
  • Standard (STD) crankshaft main journal diameter - for use with stock or unworn journals at factory diameter only. For reground crankshafts, use 5M2221H-.025 (+0.025mm) or 5M2221H-.25 (+0.25mm) as appropriate.
  • An HX extra-clearance variant (5M2221HX-STD) is available for builders targeting approximately 0.025mm (0.001") additional running clearance at standard journal diameter.
  • Always measure crankshaft main journal diameter with a micrometer before selecting bearing size. Confirm actual clearance with Plastigage or a dial bore gauge after assembly.
  • Sold as a complete set of 10 bearing shells (5 pairs, upper and lower) - sufficient for all 5 main journal positions in one V8 engine.

Features

  • Tri-metal construction: copper-lead alloy lining bonded over a hardened steel backing, with a high-strength overlay plate - engineered for the high-displacement, high-torque demands of the 5.7L Eagle, 6.4L Apache, and 6.2L Hellcat supercharged HEMI engines.
  • Hardened steel backing on all main bearings improves structural support of the bearing lining and maintains crush under the extreme crank loads generated by forced-induction 6.2L Hellcat applications exceeding 700 hp.
  • High-strength overlay plate with reduced thickness provides improved fatigue resistance compared to OEM-spec bearings - an essential upgrade for any 2009+ HEMI rebuild targeting performance reliability.
  • Increased bearing crush and tighter wall tolerances ensure consistent, secure seating in the block main journal bores, reducing the risk of bearing movement under high sustained loads.
  • Enlarged ID chamfers on bearing edges accommodate the larger fillet radii found on performance and aftermarket HEMI crankshafts.
  • 3/4-groove upper main bearings optimize oil supply to the main journals and to the connecting rod bearings through the crankshaft oiling passages.
  • Elimination of flash plating on bearing backs improves heat transfer and maximizes grip between the bearing shell and the block main bore.
  • Increased eccentricity compensates for bore distortion at high RPM and assists in the formation of a stable hydrodynamic oil film under load.

Product Description

The ACL Race Series 5M2221H-STD crankshaft main bearing set is the standard-size performance replacement for Chrysler's 2009+ Gen III HEMI engine family - spanning the revised 5.7L Eagle VCT, the 6.4L Apache/392 naturally aspirated SRT platform, and the supercharged 6.2L Hellcat/Demon/Redeye engines found across the Challenger, Charger, Ram TRX, Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, and related platforms. The 2009 revision of the 5.7L introduced Variable Camshaft Timing, revised cylinder heads, and updated internals that changed the main bearing specification relative to the 2003-2008 Pre-Eagle engine - making the correct part number selection critical.

Built on ACL's Race Series tri-metal platform, these main bearings deliver superior fatigue resistance, crush retention, and oil film stability over OEM Chrysler shells - particularly important in 6.2L Hellcat applications where the supercharged V8 generates over 700 hp and places severe sustained loads on the crankshaft bearing system. Note that this set does not fit the 6.1L SRT8 or the 2003-2008 Pre-Eagle 5.7L (use 5M2220H for those). Thrust washers (TW-611S) must be ordered separately. Always confirm clearances at assembly. Sold as a complete set of 10 shells for one engine.
