The K&N 33-2733 is a direct-fit replacement panel air filter engineered for the four-cylinder E36-platform BMW 318i, 318is, 318ti, and Z3 equipped with the M42 or M44 1.8L/1.9L engine. It uses K&N's layered cotton gauze media to deliver higher airflow than the factory paper element, helping improve throttle response and acceleration while continuing to trap the dirt and debris needed to protect the engine long-term.

Rather than replacing a disposable paper filter every 12,000-15,000 miles, owners can clean and reoil the 33-2733, typically going up to 75,000 miles between services under normal highway driving. It drops directly into the factory air box using the stock mounting points, so no cutting, drilling, or intake piping changes are needed for installation.
